Home to Wright Patterson Air Force Base and Wright State University, Fairborn is located near Dayton and is actually composed of two old villages. During the 1950s, Fairfield and Osborn communities merged together when the latter moved away from the flood plain with threats from the Great Dayton Flood in 1913.
